Stanley Haroun

Stanley Haroun is the president and founder of Stanley Haroun Group of Companies. His most known corporation is Stanley Haroun Counselling Inc. (established in 1978, expanded and incorporated in 1990) providing psychological and mental health services, vocational rehabilitation, employment counselling and disability management, in Alberta and British Colombia, and previously in Ontario, Canada.

A proud and an accomplished track record

Stanley Haroun Counselling Inc. rehabilitated over 20,000 injured and unemployed Albertans and facilitated their return to competitive employment.  Thousands of additional clients have received and continue to receive various services provided by dedicated and highly qualified professionals.

Stanley Haroun has contributed to the evolution of the mental health field in Canada. He played a major role in the establishment and management of the first out- patient department in a psychiatric hospital in Ontario in the 1970s. As a Senior Manager, he played a key role in the establishment and the management of the first integrated social services and child welfare departments and mental health clinics for the Alberta Government in 1981.

In 1985, Stanley Haroun and a group of dedicated professionals established and managed the IMPACT assessment and treatment program for impaired drivers in Alberta, Canada.

IMPACT, a program sponsored by Alberta Alcohol and Drug Addictions Commission and AMA, is still going strong today.

Community and civic involvement

Stanley Haroun volunteered his time and expertise to numerous community and civic causes over the years, from serving on various community and professional boards to fundraising activities.

His past and present activites are: Chair of St. Albert City Council’s Affordable Housing Advisory Board, a Founding member of Calgary’s Champions Career Centre, serving individuals with various disabilities, the founder and chair of St. Albert Task Force on Vandalism and Youth Issues, a founding member and Chair of St. Albert Housing Society and Chair of the Ethics and Disciplinary Hearings Tribunals for the Alberta College of Social Workers. In the 2017 Municipal Election, Stanley Haroun was elected to the office of Public Schools Trustee for the City of St. Albert.

Stanley Haroun holds a Bachelor and Masters degrees in the Human Sciences, in psychology, social work and philosophy, from Alexandria University. He is a Registered Social Worker with the Alberta College of Registered Social Workers, authorized to perform psychosocial intervention under The Government organization Act, and is a member of the Canadian Association of Professional Social Workers. Stanley Haroun has been a member of various national and international professional associations including the British Association of Psychiatric Social Workers and a certified member of Alberta Human Resources Institute (CHRP).

He and his wife Jo-Anne have two adult children, Sandra and Mark, and two grandchildren Averi and Eli Davidson.
